Moving Forward

This weekend, Rose City Contractors came in and took out all of the linoleum and the particle board it was attached to.  It was quite the process since they had to take a lot of safety measures due to the asbestos in the flooring.  It involved putting even more plastic around our kitchen, using special equipment, and creating an area to clean off before heading out of the kitchen.  It was hours of work and noise, so we headed out for the day while they worked.

When we got back home, the floor and plastic was gone, and machinery was set up again to dry out the sub floor.

I still have to pack all the taped up cabinets you see.  Then they will all come out.

Can't wait to close the doorway, and make the pantry bigger.

Today our cabinet guy from A To Z Cabinetry came by to go over plans for our new kitchen.  He also brought some samples.

I'm thinking the one on the left, painted white, with a warm antique glazing to make the detail pop.  Also, there will be hardware of course.

Below are the sketches for the new layout.

The kitchen is longer with a bar area added next to the refrigerator.  The cabinets over the peninsula are gone, and the counter top from the sink is extended.

The area in the corner is our new walk in pantry.  Also, we will likely have a pass through to the left of the refrigerator, and this model accurately shows how there will no longer be a long expanse of wall from the cabinets to our entry.  Thus making our living room and dining room one big great room.

Our sink will now be centered with the window.  It was to the left more before.  Now a lazy susan will fit in the corner.  No more hard to access space there.
